Erik J. Bertel, Research Analyst, Writer, Healthcare Advocate, and Futurist
Erik J.Bertel (pronounced bûr-tel’ as in burr-tell), survived SUNY at Stony Brook while procuring a Master of Science degree from W. Averell Harriman College for Urban and Policy Sciences. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in biology with a minor in statistics from SUNY Stony Brook.
With an educational background in both public service administration and biology, Erik’s career includes notable achievements such as five years as a Research Analyst at the Suffolk Department of Social Services. Later, he became a Technology Seminar Speaker with Dun & Bradstreet and went on to have a successful career as a computer product and marketing manager with several Fortune 500 corporations, including application development in the health services field.
Erik has authored numerous science fiction novels, but this marks his first venture into non-fiction. He has conducted extensive research on human evolution, including being an early advocate for the significance of the Homo floresiensis finds on Flores Island. These efforts culminated in the creation of the fictional sci-fi novel “Flores Girl,” which garnered considerable success as a podcast.
Presently, Erik identifies as a futurist, with his interests centering around the study and prediction of the biological and socioeconomic evolution of the human species. His predictions encompass various areas, including the future of healthcare, the development of AI with Sentientism, and the resulting evolution of cultural and governmental institutions driven by these transformative changes. Erik’s next novel will be a dystopian world set in the near future governed by Power Laws.
